Purpose of data collection

The data is processed in order to:

• increasing the effectiveness of external border management;
• preventing irregular migration,
• identification of persons who have exceeded the permitted period of stay,
• detecting cases of false identity or travel on someone else's passport,
• support the activities of the authorities in the field of crime and terrorism prevention.

Refusal to provide biometric data

Providing biometric data (face and fingerprint photos) is mandatory. If the traveller refuses to provide this data, he or she is refused entry into the territory of the EES countries.
