FROM THE AI ACT TO NATIONAL REGULATIONS – The Personal Data Protection Office webinar
The Personal Data Protection Office (UODO) and the Social Team of Experts at the President of UODO invite you to a webinar entitled ‘From the AI Act to national regulations. New challenges for personal data protection’, which will take place on 30 September 2026 from 10.00 to 12.00.
The session will focus on the challenges associated with the use of artificial intelligence in the context of personal data protection, the role of the President of the Personal Date Protection Office in the national AI oversight system, and issues worth analysing before implementing artificial intelligence systems.
The role of the President of the Personal Data Protection Office in relation to the AI Act
The President of the Personal Data Protection Office, Mirosław Wróblewski, will open the meeting with a presentation on the position and role of the President of the UODO within the national system of supervision over artificial intelligence.
He will outline the legal provisions which guarantee the independence of the competent authority for the protection of personal data, whilst also providing for cooperation with the Commission for the Development and Safety of Artificial Intelligence (KRiBSI).
He will also discuss his remit, which enables him to take action in cases where the use of artificial intelligence leads to breaches of privacy and the right to the protection of personal data (e.g. in connection with deepfakes).
For data controllers, aspects of this presentation such as the following may be of particular interest: an explanation of what is involved in ensuring compliance with the GDPR and the AI Act, conducting risk assessments based on both pieces of legislation, and the support to be provided by the regulatory sandbox mechanism.
What should you ask before using AI?
The second part of the webinar will be led by Dr hab. Dominik Lubasz, Professor at the University of Łódź and a member of the Social Team of Experts at the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO). He will outline the origins, the methodology behind their development and the current form of the lists of initial questions prepared by the Professor, with the support of the other members of the Social Team of Experts at the President of the Personal Data Protection Office and experts from the UODO. He will also explain how to use these documents and how they can assist organisations planning to use artificial intelligence.
During the meeting, participants will also learn what changes have been made to the document following the latest round of comments, and which elements of the lists the team of experts is still working on.
We particularly encourage data controllers, data protection officers, those responsible for procurement and technology implementation, and public sector organisations to take part in the event.
