Prizes awarded in the 14th edition of the competition for an essay for law and administration students

On 11 June 2026, at the headquarter of the Personal Data Protection Office, a an award ceremony was held for the winners of the 14th edition of the competition for an essay for law and administration students. The competition was organized by the Personal Data Protection Office in cooperation with the National Chamber of Legal Advisers. The substantive partner of the project was a law firm - Kobylańska Lewoszewski Mednis sp.j.

The subject of this year's edition was: ‘Use of deepfake content as a form of personal data processing’. Participants faced one of the most current issues related to the protection of personal data and the development of new technologies.

During the ceremony, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office Mirosław Wróblewski congratulated the winners, emphasizing their knowledge, commitment and ability to analyze complex legal problems. He also thanked the partners of the competition for many years of cooperation and drew attention to the long tradition of the undertaking. The President of the Personal Data Protection Office pointed out that the dynamic development of technology makes the challenges related to the protection of personal data more and more topical. He emphasized that issues at the intersection of law and new technologies cease to be only theoretical considerations, and become real problems requiring proper interpretation of regulations and effective actions. He also pointed out that the technologies used to create deepfake content can serve both legitimate purposes and be used to cause harm or achieve benefits at the expense of others.

Agnieszka Gajewska-Zabój, Adviser of the President of the National Council of Legal Advisers for Legal Affairs Information and New Technologies at National Chamber of Legal Advisers emphasised that the development of technology poses new challenges to the law and the protection of privacy. She pointed out that the participants of the competition could experience the risks associated with the use of new technologies and their impact on the protection of personal data. She also thanked the President of the Personal Data Protection Office for inviting the National Chamber of Legal Advisers to co-organise an initiative promoting the protection of privacy and personal data.

Anna Kobylańska, partner of the law firm Kobylańska Lewoszewski Mednis sp.j., congratulated the participants of the competition and expressed satisfaction with the fact that for fourteen years the project has been encouraging students to deepen their knowledge in the field of personal data protection. She emphasised the very high level of this year's work, paying particular attention to the ability to combine issues related to the right to privacy with the opportunities and challenges of new technologies. She also appreciated the freshness of the participants' gaze and their freedom in addressing a complex matter at the junction of law and technology.
