“Personal Data Protection Office on tour across Poland” in Gorzów Wielkopolski – report
As part of the “Personal Data Protection Office on tour across Poland” campaign, Mirosław Wróblewski, President of the Personal Data Protection Office, visited Gorzów Wielkopolski, where he met with representatives of public administration, academia, and entrepreneurs. The visit was an opportunity to discuss the challenges related to personal data protection in the context of the dynamic development of new technologies and artificial intelligence. The President of the Personal Data Protection Office was accompanied at the meetings by Monika Krasińska, Director of the Law and New Technologies Department, Anna Grzelak, Director of the Social Projects and Sustainable Development Department, and Karol Witowski, Director of the Communications Department.
The President of the Personal Data Protection Office in the Lubuskie Voivodeship Office met with persons responsible for information security in local government units and joint administration. The discussion focused on the role of Data Protection Officers, problems with the application of GDPR provisions, and the importance of personal data protection for national security. Marek Cebula, Voivode of Lubuskie Voivodeship, pointed out that personal data is one of the most valuable assets today, which is increasingly becoming a target for cybercriminals.
The President of the Personal Data Protection Office, Mirosław Wróblewski, also met with entrepreneurs from the region at the seat of the Western Chamber of Industry and Commerce. They discussed practical aspects of personal data protection in the small and medium-sized enterprise sector, including the need to implement solutions that increase security in small and medium-sized companies.
An important part of the visit was a meeting at the Jacob of Paradyż Academy, during which a cooperation agreement was signed between the Personal Data Protection Office and the Academy. The agreement provides for joint activities in the areas of education, scientific research, promotional and publishing activities, as well as the organisation of student internships. The agreement was signed by Mirosław Wróblewski, President of the Personal Data Protection Office, and Prof. Elżbieta Skorupska-Raczyńska, Rector of the Jacob of Paradyż Academy.
As part of his visit, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office also took part in an open meeting for the residents of Gorzów Wielkopolski entitled “Data in the age of artificial intelligence – the legal framework for the struggle for power.” The event, organised at the Jacob of Paradyż Academy, was an opportunity to discuss the importance of privacy and ethics in a world of developing technologies.
