Data security in the quantum age - conference

On Thursday 12 June, an international conference organised by the Personal Data Protection Office will be held in Krakow, entitled. ‘Quantum technologies: threats, challenges and opportunities for cyber security and personal data protection’. The event is co-organised by Jagiellonian University.

The aim of the meeting will be to discuss issues around security and the protection of personal data in the context of evolving quantum technology, particularly the use of quantum computers in. Encrypted data, critical infrastructure, methods of accessing data - all of this comes into question today when we consider that new generation computers are able to break such security at lightning speed. This is of fundamental importance, for example, when processing data in areas such as public security, health care or finance.

The protection of privacy and personal data is therefore a major challenge for the European Union's digital sovereignty and national security in this perspective.

During the conference, experts from data protection authorities and invited specialists from the region's universities will discuss the latest technological methods to help secure data in the quantum sphere.

The meeting will also focus on current actions that are being taken by the EU to protect personal data in relation to quantum technology. The challenges faced by controllers and the data protection officers supporting them regarding data protection will also be presented. Discussants will also address the issue of already existing and expected legal regulations towards quantum solutions.

The conference has received the patronage of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council.

The event will take place at the Larisch Palace at 12 Bracka Street in Krakow. Participation in the event is possible after prior registration at the link:
