Meeting of the members of the AI Healthcare Coalition with the Polish SA

On November 29, 2024, a meeting was held between members of the AI Healthcare Coalition and Mirosław Wróblewski, President of the Personal Data Protection Office.

During the meeting, topics related to the processing of patient data, legal regulations and the possibilities of harmonising modern artificial intelligence solutions with the applicable privacy protection standards were discussed. The meeting was an opportunity to exchange views and experiences between technological, medical and legal experts.

During their visit to the Personal Data Protection Office, the experts undertook in particular the analysis of topics related to the use of medical data to train AI models, standards for anonymisation and pseudonymisation of medical data, as well as access to data in clinical trials using new technologies. There were also topics related to legislation, new cybersecurity regulations (NIS2, DORA) and their relationship with the Artificial Intelligence Act.

Representatives of the Personal Data Protection Office pointed out that they support and will continue to support the guarantees of personal data protection in the existing and proposed legal regulations regarding the processing of personal data in the health sector, both in Poland and in Europe. To this end, the Personal Data Protection Office initiates discussions during meetings with decision-makers, paying attention to the correct implementation of regulations that take into account the security of patients' personal data.

Representatives of the medical sector also expressed interest in the subject of complaints filed with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office in connection with the processing of medical data using AI systems.

The AI Healthcare Coalition is an initiative to harness the full potential of innovation in health and support digital transformation. Currently, it brings together over 150 national and global entities involved in the creation and implementation of artificial intelligence algorithms.
