The President of the UODO does not recognize applications for a public key certificate
Recently, the Personal Data Protection Office receives applications for a public key certificate for devices (VPN) and for a public key certificate for the operator on the card. The President of the UODO is not competent to consider such applications.
UODO informs that the entity competent to consider such applications is the Ministry of Digital Affairs, which, as part of its duties, provides certification services in the field of generating certificates and keys for users. These obligations apply to applications for new or renewal of old certificates.
We remind that the public key is used to check the authenticity of the signature and encrypt the data. A digital certificate, which contains information identifying the owner, is assigned to the public key.
